CREATIVITY IS OUR SUPERPOWER. It’s our heritage and it’s also our future. Because we don’t just make toys. We create innovative products and experiences that inspire fans, entertain audiences and develop children through play. Mattel is at its best when every member of our team feels respected, included, and heard—when everyone can show up as themselves and do their best work every day. We value and share an infinite range of ideas and voices that evolve and broaden our perspectives with a reach that extends into all our brands, partners, and suppliers.

The Team:

Global Supply Chain (GSC) drives ideas to markets — and into the hands and lives of children in communities across the globe. Using the Plan-Source-Make-Deliver model, GSC supports Mattel's goals by safely manufacturing and delivering quality products with high levels of service at competitive costs.

The Opportunity:

Mattel is seeking a Sr. Internal Communications Associate for its Global Supply Chain organization. This role will primarily support the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization with internal communication and other employee experience touchpoints. This position reports directly into the Sr Director, GSC Chief of Staff and DTC Implementation, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Associate Manager, Internal Communications.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for a self-starter who’s passionate about helping us create an inspiring and engaging employee experience at Mattel. You’re not afraid to dive into ambiguous projects and ask questions or challenge the way we do things here. You act with confidence and are comfortable providing communications and employee experience guidance to leadership. You’re self-motivated and are constantly looking for creative ways to contribute or streamline to create efficiencies. You understand the nature of GSC communications and act with urgency and decisiveness. You’ve got great ideas and a knack for thinking them through and finding ways to bring them across the finish line despite obstacles. You have a global mindset and can step back and draw connections to always consider the bigger picture.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Help build an inspiring and cohesive experience for GSC employees that unites all areas as one team (Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, etc.);
  • Support engaging and coherent communications campaigns in the Mattel voice across multiple channels, including email, video, newsletters, digital signage, and Yammer;
  • Coordinate all flow of communications through the GSC organization;
  • Support a global GSC Town Hall/fireside chat schedule, develop presentation content, and solicit/take action on feedback;
  • Drive engagement with social media platforms, such as myMattel, LinkedIn etc.;
  • Build and manage a collaborative communications space, such as SharePoint, for the GSC team;
  • Leverage platforms such as WeChat and WorkStep to reach frontline workers;
  • Attend and capture insights from GSC offsites and team meetings;
  • Enable key employee experience drivers with the GSC team, such as total wellness and flexibility;
  • May participate in additional projects in partnership with our DCs, Plants etc.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3-4 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing/advertising (internship experience included);
  • Experience working for a global, matrixed organization;
  • Ability to distill complex concepts and jargon/technical language into easy-to-digest communications;
  • Advanced PowerPoint Skills;
  • Strong writing and editing skills with a solid grasp of grammar;
  • Experienced in social media and digital collaboration tools;
  • Can easily establish credibility and build solid working relationships across all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to prioritize multiple initiatives with competing deadlines;
  • Basic design skills in MS Office and preferably Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Experience in the GSC world is a plus!
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

Note: This position is based in our El Segundo headquarters and collaborates frequently with employees in our Asia Pacific region. Applicants should be comfortable working a flexible schedule to occasionally accommodate meetings on China Standard Time (e.g., 5:00 – 7:00 PT). Mattel offers unlimited PTO and flexible schedules so employees are empowered to create schedules that work best for the business and themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $92,000 and $113,000.
