The Opportunity: 

The Director of SOX Compliance will lead the Company’s SOX compliance program. Reporting to the Vice President of Internal Audit, you will have broad exposure to the operations of the Company and will interact with leaders across Finance, Legal, HR, Operations, Sales, Manufacturing and IT, as well as our external auditors and advisors.

This individual will initially be working with external advisors to maintain and improve the SOX program, but will eventually be responsible for building an in-house team with additional assistance from a third-party co-source provider.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Lead and oversee the company's global Sarbanes Oxley 404 program and work closely with internal stakeholders and our external auditors
  • Oversee the effort to design, develop and test the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting
  • Lead the design and execution of the annual risk assessment, and develop the SOX scoping methodology and approach
  • Coordinate with external auditors on the annual SOX testing plan and the extent of reliance that the external auditors will place on the SOX function
  • Oversee the control deficiency and remediation process
  • Prepare and routinely present findings of SOX program, testing and results to management and the Audit Committee and track any identified control deficiencies, remediation and closure of findings
  • Establish routine training and support to process owners to ensure a thorough understanding of the SOX program, risk and control requirements
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the management teams of all major functional areas as well as external auditor, ensuring a holistic understanding of key risks and processes of the organization
  • Champion risks and controls considerations across the organization
  • Consult with the business and IT on internal control considerations for system implementations impacting financial reporting
  • Integrate new business units and/or acquired businesses under the SOX program
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the management teams of all major functional areas as well as external auditor, ensuring a holistic understanding of key risks and processes of the organization
  • Support the VP – Internal Audit as needed on Operational Audits and Special Reviews as warranted

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience required, with Big 4, SOX consulting and/or Internal Audit experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with PCAOB standards, SOX requirements, and COSO Framework required. Specifically, ideal candidate must demonstrate a firm grasp of financial reporting and SOX requirements and methodologies
  • CIA, CPA, CISA or other relevant professional certification highly desired
  • Experience managing a team that is a mix of professional staff and third-party consultants
  • Strong leadership and team building and development skills with an ability to set objectives and drive results
  • Proven ability to work with and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization; including educating cross-functional teams and other leaders regarding SOX.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with SOX tools (i.e., AuditBoard, Workiva, Archer, etc.)
