Mattel is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) that will contribute in executing value-added HR strategies aligned with our global and regional business priorities. Reporting to the Sr Director, Human Resources, the Jr. HRBP will develop partnerships and work in collaboration with functional leaders and employees within Mattel Corporate Functions teams to provide support and guidance on Human Resources related initiatives. The incumbent will also collaborate with Mattel Corporate HR Centers of Expertise to provide full range of HR strategies, plans, and activities that will drive the achievement of business goals.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Implement, lead and influence talent development/management activities (e.g., workforce planning, succession planning, performance management process, and organizational development);
  • Provide thoughtful and effective coaching to leaders on performance management, structural and staffing issues, including compensation review process, organization design and development, and overall organizational effectiveness;
  • Provide advice and consulting services to managers and employees on HR programs, practices, policies, legislation, performance related issues, including conflict resolutions, investigations, coaching and counseling of employees;
  • Understand business strategy, plan, and activities, assess needs and barriers in order to drive business performance through development and delivery of people strategy and solutions;
  • Coach leaders to manage and maximize the skills/capabilities of their team members to create an environment of high performance and openness;
  • Challenge the status quo in order to continuously add business value;
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends and best practices within business group and in external environment to ensure alignment of the people strategy to the business objectives;
    • Interpret and analyze management information and data to assist in making appropriate business decisions based on business and HR metrics and trends.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s degree (asset);

  • 3-4 years’ experience in HR, including at least 1 year in a Business Partner role;

  • Comprehensive organizational development and change management experience;

  • Experience implementing and executing programs in workforce planning, talent management, compensation, employee relations, training & development, and legal/compliance;

  • Knowledge of HR legal practices and employee relations skills;

  • Ability to build and facilitate trusting, strategic business partnerships across multiple functional groups;

  • Experience providing leadership on various cross-functional projects and comfortable in a matrix environment;

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills;

  • Strong analytic, organizational, and problem-solving capability

  • Proven ability to improve and recommend digital solutions to manual processes

  • Ability to multi-task in a busy, and often challenging environment

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with clients and team members

  • Exceptional detail orientation and organization skills (with strong sense of urgency and follow up/follow through)

  • Strong, clear and professional written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to actively listen and accurately interpret directions and instructions

  • Ability to think and illustrate ‘big picture’ focus as well as make sure the details are followed-through on and executed flawlessly

  • Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations; ability to adapt effectively to change

  • Takes personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work, and achieves results with little oversight

  • ‘Can-do’ attitude and proactive, solution-focused individual
