Purpose of Position

Under the direction of the Store Manager, assist in the planning and execution of all
aspects of business, including; personnel, sales and promotions, inventory buying, and
management. To provide an exceptional shopping experience to all guests. To achieve
all financial goals and objectives. To provide a safe and rewarding environment for
associates.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Staffing and Personnel Management

  • Assist in interviewing and hiring
  • Assist in training and coaching
  • Manage onboarding process for new hires and seasonal personnel
  • Establish daily priorities, schedules, and communicate with the team as needed
  • Oversee the weekly scheduling
  • Oversee the daily team huddles and maintain huddle notebooks for the store and warehouse teams
  • Track attendance and record absences

Sales and Promotions

  • Oversee the development of the promotional calendar
  • Oversee the development of advertising campaigns to support promotional activities including design and deployment of, print ads, e-blasts, social media, website design, and updates,
  • Oversee the employee engagement events and promotions
  • Oversee and development of biannual Charity Catalogs and quarterly resale lists
  • Oversee the updating Promo Tool for sale prices and promotions
  • Oversee the design and placement of sale and promotional signage
  • Assist with development and procurement of licensed products for each season
  • Order movie tickets and other certificates for resale to employees and members

Inventory Management

  • Provide recommendation and feedback for ordering all Mattel, Fisher-Price, Mega, AG products to support El Segundo Toy Store, Holiday Tent, Charities, Resale Orders, Conventions, Employee Wish List and special projects
  • Assist in developing inventory FCST to support financial objectives
  • Assist in maintaining margin and pricing strategies to support financial goals
  • Receive all orders into MIMICS
  • Maintain inventory integrity by:
    --Manage scrap logs
    --Manage daily negative inventory reports
    --Manage product locator system
    --Conduct physical inventory
    --Conduct weekly cycle counts
  • Schedule deliveries
  • Coordinate trailer storage during peak season
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers
  • Maintain truck fleet by:
    --Daily safety checks
    --Scheduling routine maintenance
    --Manage fuel
  • Maintain a safe efficient and safe warehouse
  • Conduct regular safety audits

Administrative and Back-Office Functions

  • Manage cash management by overseeing:
    --Daily deposits
    --Change orders in and repayment
    --Balancing all tills
    --Making change for registers
    --Regular cash drops
    --Update sales detail daily
    --Order supplies
  • Employee record keeping:
    --Daily sign-in sheets
    --Daily break and assignment schedule
    --Team Time reconciliation
  • Assist with IT, POS:
    --Prepare each POS for updates
    --Outside sales events and remote sales
    --Holiday Tent – planning and execution
    --Manage special events server

Special Projects and Conventions

  • Assist in the planning and execution of all special projects including conventions, pop-up stores, campus events as requested
  • Order supplies for events
  • Provide appropriate staffing for events
  • Assist in the planning and execution of the Holiday Tent

Excellence in Hospitality

  • Using the M.A.T.T.E.L. commitment of service, provide an exceptional experience for all guests
  • Track basket size and conversion daily
  • Track “deals of the week”
  • Create bounce-back opportunities for customer retention

  • 2-4 Years’ retail experience
  • 1-2 Years’ managing a team in a retail environment
  • Experience managing multiple locations
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to lead with empathy and keep the team focused on the main goal
  • Ability to work with a calm sense of urgency
  • Experience working with customers and creating an enjoyable shopping experience
