The Team: Transportation Assistant position is part of San Bernardino Distribution center team. 


The Opportunity: The Inbound Transportation and Customs department is part of our Global Supply Chain team. This team is responsible for controlling the flow of goods ensuring cargo is offloaded from the aircraft, truck or vessel, it is customs clear so that it can be released to the importer without delay.  The containers are then picked up and taken to the DC, where the cargo is segregated and ready to meet the customers fulfillment requirements.  In order to meet the requirements, all truck, air and ocean shipments need to clear customs timely and accurately, resolving all entry issues prior to transmission to ensure the DC’s has the product ready and issue free for customer orders.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Track and Trace container availability on Steamship Lines website and/or Port terminal website to update internal systems.
  • Liaise with internal team, drayage partners and Steamship Lines in the Delivery Orders instructions.
  • Update reports to reflect all milestones in the operations such as ETA, Discharge, Terminal Appointment, Terminal Outgate, Delivery Appointment, Distribution Center Deliver, Container Unloading Time, Empty Notifications to drayage partners, Empty container backhaul.
  • Proactively follow up and help to solve problem on delayed milestones with Steamship Lines, Port Terminal, Carrier, Warehouses and related parties.
  • Track, capture, audit and record drayage related invoices including fuel and accessorial in order to build reports and KPI’s on actual performance vs forecast.
  • Ability to attend work regularly and on a timely manner
  • Able to perform work with accuracy
  • Ability to learn and use various warehouse management programs
  • Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by your manager or supervisor

What We’re Looking For: 

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 or more years related experience in logistics, transportation, operations, supply chain, or related field
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and easily move from one task to another.
  • Intermediate or above skills with Microsoft Office Programs including Excel and Access.
  • Able to collaborate with internal and external partners at all organizational levels.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in written.
  • Works as one team and is flexible
