The Opportunity: 

The position of Accounting Manager, Global DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) is a key member of the North America Finance Leadership team. They will work closely with DTC commercial stakeholders and liaise with FP&A and Pricing/Promotion Finance teams, as well as other parts of the Finance organization at Mattel. The role will report to the Accounting Director, North America Commercial Finance. Although the focus of the role will be North America, there will also be a component of Global DTC Center of Excellence (COE) which will help in the establishment and maintenance of global standards for our DTC business.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

Responsibilities include month and quarter end close; reviewing management reports; preparing and posting journal entries; reconciling key balance sheet accounts and analyzing the actual business performance. The accuracy of the books, plus adherence to controls (including MCS and SOX standards) is a key part of the role. Some input is also provided to support forecasts for the DTC commercial group.

The role will be responsible for:

  • Month End Close – In partnership with the FP&A team, responsible for the overall management reporting and variance analysis. Review and presentation of key financial metrics and reports across wider DTC commercial organization
  • Responsible for the Overall Control Environment, ensuring that processes for financial governance are established, improved and then adhered to for MCS (Minimum Control Standards) and SOX Controls
  • Support for Forecasts (AOP and in-year re-forecasts) and general liaison – Collaborate with key stakeholders on financial forecasting and be the go-to-person for day to day business finance questions
  • Defining Global Standards and Practices for our DTC business as part of the DTC COE
  • Leadership and Development of DTC Accountant including goal setting, career development planning and timely development feedback for a direct report

DTC is an area of strategic importance for Mattel, with the revenue under scope over $100M, with rapid growth expectations.


What We’re Looking For: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting
  • 8+ years experience (or Master’s and 6+ years) in accounting role(s); experience in practice and active CPA, or working to achieve CPA would be beneficial
  • Ability to collaborate, lead meetings and develop relationships across the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives
  • Ability to span from high level to details as needed and maintain standards of work for team
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills; ability to liaise with people at all levels across the business
  • Ability to own and execute projects/functional area from start to finish
  • Holds self and team accountable to deliver against strategic priorities
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting, experience of DTC or consumer packaged goods business an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to lead direct reports and develop others
  • HFM/ HPT / Oracle experience a plus
  • Advanced MS Office Excel skills
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $150,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
