The Opportunity:

Product Designers at Mattel are focused on creating new product opportunities for the brand; by understanding the consumer, trends and technology that are then translated into successful product. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. Ideal candidates will possess proven product design experience showing ability to work on challenging and fun products as well as ideating new concepts.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Actively generate new opportunities to enhance the brand.
  • Execute on both Product Designs and Graphic Designs.
  • Design and develops playsets and / or advertised lines or segments.
  • Builds consensus between members throughout the design process.
  • Partner with Development Design, Engineering, Packaging and Cost Engineering to insure product integrity and marketing objectives.
  • Daily communication with Asia partners.
  • Successfully present and communicate their concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departments.
  • Manage the early phases of design and development with other disciplines within the company.

What We're Looking For:

  • 1-5 years professional Toy Design experience. 
  • Ability to prove ideas through sketches, illustrations, breadboard or 3d model.
  • Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD (Alias, Rhino 3D is a plus).
  • Knowledge of material and manufacturing process.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Ability to project manage.
  • Ideal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of the current trends.
  • Understanding of features and play patterns in the toy industry is a plus.
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving.
