The iSeries team is responsible for managing, supporting and developing our core system in AS400. This is a global team that supports commercial, supply, logistics, finance and organization across the world in the following regions: Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. The team is also a critical partner for the Global Technology Organization and other functional organizations to keep Mattel’s operations without disruptions.


The Opportunity: 
 

Mattel is establishing and developing a technology and innovation center that will contribute to a robust internal control environment. As a result, Mattel is currently seeking a Developer & Support Analyst to join its iSeries/AS400 team at the new center.

We are seeking an experienced iSeries (AS400) Developer & Support Analyst to support and enhance enterprise applications within the Supply Chain and Manufacturing domain. The role involves development, maintenance, production support, system enhancements, and close collaboration with business stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency across procurement, inventory, production, and distribution processes along with the onshore and offshore experience.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in RPG and IBM i technologies, along with functional understanding of manufacturing and supply chain workflows.

Flexibility to operate in staggered or rotational shifts to support overlapping business operations across Australia (Melbourne), Europe (Amsterdam), US (Los Angeles), and Canada (Toronto/Mexico City) time zones.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

Application Development & Enhancements

  • Design, develop, test, and implement applications on IBM i (AS400) platform.
  • Develop and maintain programs using RPGLE / ILE RPG / Free Format RPG, CLLE, and embedded SQL.
  • Work on DDS, Subfiles, Service Programs, and APIs.
  • Enhance existing legacy applications and support modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in system upgrades and platform migrations where applicable.
  • Coordinate tasks and work activities between onshore and offshore teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Manage and coordinate work assignments between onshore and offshore teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment of priorities, and timely execution.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and audit requirements.

    Production Support & Issue Resolution
  • Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support for Supply Chain & Manufacturing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, data, and batch job issues.
  • Monitor system performance and job schedules.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure and business teams during incidents.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support during weekends, after business hours, and public holidays as required.
  • Coordinate tasks and work activities between onshore and offshore teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Manage and coordinate work assignments between onshore and offshore teams, ensuring clear communication, alignment of priorities, and timely execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing job abends and support tickets raised by users and business teams, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with defined SLAs and established incident management procedures and policies.


 


What We’re Looking For: 

3-7 years of experience in Core AS400 / iSeries/ IBM i Skills and below.

  • Strong experience in IBM iSeries (AS400) environment
  • Proficiency in RPGLE, CLLE, RPG/400, SQL-RPG, SQLRPGLE, DB2/400 (SQL, DDS, Physical & Logical Files)
  • Knowledge of ILE concepts (Service Programs, Procedures, Modules)
  • Experience with Subfile programming, Batch jobs, Interactive screens, Message/Data Queues and Job Scheduling etc.
  • Experience in Code debugging and performance tuning on AS400
  • Must have experience and willingness to work both in development and production support environments.
  • Working knowledge on any Change Management tools.
  • Experience in requirement gathering and modeling business processes (notably Supply Chain and Order-to-Cash), translating business requirements into high-level and technical designs, impact analysis for proposed changes to regional requirements.
  • Root cause analysis, 3rd-line ticket triage, provide direction on fixes and enhancements.
  • Plan and execute test strategy on IBM i: unit, integration, regression, and performance smoke tests.
  • Nice to have: EDI integrations; Implementer (change management); Compleo (document management).
  • Understanding business process flows relevant to manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain. 
  • Experience in requirement gathering, impact analysis, and root cause analysis
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and familiarity with ticketing tools like ServiceNow / JIRA.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing job abends and support tickets raised by users and business teams, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with defined SLAs and established incident management procedures and policies.
  • Flexibility to operate in staggered or rotational shifts to support overlapping business operations across Australia (Melbourne), Europe (Amsterdam), US (Los Angeles), and Canada (Toronto/Mexico City) time zones.
