We value and share an infinite range of ideas and voices that evolve and broaden our perspectives with a reach that extends into all our brands, partners, and suppliers.

The Opportunity:

The Manager will support and help lead the continued Finance Transformation at Mattel, with a strong focus on indirect tax systems and processes. This role will work closely with systems leads, the Systems Implementation Partner, regional finance leadership teams, the corporate tax team, and the NextGen Finance leadership.

Mattel operates in 35 countries and sells products in more than 150 countries, making this a highly visible and impactful role within a global, complex environment.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must bring a strong background in indirect tax, accounting, and VAT, along with the ability to quickly learn and optimize systems and translate business requirements into scalable solutions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and summarize decision-making for executive audiences are critical.

Experience in Finance Transformation initiatives is a strong plus. Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud, Tax One, and indirect tax solutions (including VAT) is required. The ideal candidate is passionate about data, systems, and process improvement, and has a proven track record of driving decisions forward in a modern Finance organization.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Collaborate with and help lead decision-making alongside accounting, tax, technical, and business integration teams to deliver scalable, secure, and flexible finance solutions.

  • Lead the configuration, optimization, and ongoing management of indirect tax systems, including Tax One and Oracle Fusion Cloud, with a strong focus on VAT processes.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Tax, Shared Services, IT, and Finance) to enhance compliance, efficiency, and scalability across regions.

  • Drive process improvements and support the integration of VAT and indirect tax solutions into broader Finance Transformation initiatives.

  • Produce and present executive-level updates on NextGen Finance and tax transformation initiatives.

  • Coordinate and manage regional and global test cycles, ensuring alignment across resources, locations, and timelines.

  • Influence system and process design decisions that shape the future of Finance and Tax at Mattel.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing change with clarity, confidence, and strong stakeholder alignment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 7+ years of experience in Finance and Tax, with a strong emphasis on indirect tax and VAT.

  • Solid understanding of indirect tax processes, including VAT, as well as core finance functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Order to Cash.

  • Hands-on experience with Tax One and Cloud-based tax solutions, required.

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud for Financials and indirect tax solutions (e.g., Thomson Reuters) strongly preferred.

  • Proven experience supporting or leading large, global system implementations with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and drive results across all levels of the organization.

  • Strong initiative and ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous situations.

  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, organizational, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to lead complex projects from concept through implementation.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, executive-level environment and discern when to act independently.

  • Experience defining, documenting, and translating business requirements into system and process solutions.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences.

  • Ability to anticipate risks, identify potential issues, and propose effective mitigation plans.

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and generate innovative, practical solutions.
