The Team:

The Mattel Global Franchise Creative team focuses on creative direction and asset development for pitches, style guides, and informs licensing development around the world for Mattel brands.


The Opportunity: 

Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Designer to join the Global Franchise Creative and Consumer Products Design team: this is a general design role, touching on graphic design (especially for apparel graphics), asset development, key art and character art.

Applicants should be prepared to show and discuss their portfolio of past work in interviews.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

The Designer will, with direction from Lead Designers and Sr. Manager, develop assets and pitch materials as needed for our Infant Preschool portfolio.

Designer will create brand-right and trend-right graphics from approved artwork/themes to both target and inspire customer and increased brand experience. Designer will work closely with teammates to ensure assets are useable and applicable to the customer and the category.

Designer will also work with Hardlines and Softlines leads on product development and approvals across all categories.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, creatively, quickly and at a high level, within strategic themes and categories
  • Work with CP creative team to understand our brands, deeply
  • Close awareness of current and emerging fashion and consumer trends, as well as manufacturing and technology trends to curate into asset development and assortments that align to our brand values and aesthetics
  • Actively participate in team brainstorm sessions (as well as cross-functional sessions) for new asset ideas, product development and innovation.
  • Working closely with cross functional teams to understand segmentation strategies and creative needs for all areas of the business

What We’re Looking For:

  • Graphic Design experience within the apparel industry is really important!
  • Minimum of 2 years professional creative experience in Fashion/Licensing/Graphic Design for Apparel or as a Creative in the Consumer Products industry
  • Experience with Kids and Nostalgia IP
  • Excellent in Adobe Suite
  • Power Point proficient
  • Excellent with time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams on multiple projects
  • Strong communication skills to articulate all design ideas
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Efficient, effective designer
  • Team player ' working with a diverse group of talent
  • 'Sense of urgency ' this is a fast-paced, changing consumer products environment
  • Organized and efficient, self-motivated
  • Professional maturity; ability to assimilate constructive criticism and execute accordingly
  • Positive attitude and flexibility
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $73,600 and $92,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
