The Team

As part of the Global Technology Organization, the aim of Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) team is to enable Mattel as a data-driven organization, by:

  • Delivering high quality data for self-service analytics and data science via a modern data infrastructure that supports our business partners and aligns with business strategy.
  • Ensuring data quality through governance and data management processes.
  • Maximizing the availability of data.
  • Providing the infrastructure, tools, and knowledge to add value to data.
  • Promoting enterprise-wide adoption through sustainable education and training programs on our tools and data.

The Opportunity

Mattel is seeking a Business Analyst, based out of our Technology & Innovation Center in Hyderabad, India, reporting to the IT Director for Enterprise Data and Analytics.  The person filling this role will act as an interface between business and technical groups - eliciting requirements from the business, designing analytics solutions and/or data models from a business user perspective, and working with our development teams to implement them – taking the role of a Product Manager in a SAFe Agile working model.  This person will also lead and participate in data governance processes, and as a subject matter expert, will be able to provide training, support and assistance to business users on our data and tools.

 

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Act as a Product Manager in a SAFe Agile working model on Enterprise Data and Analytics projects, primarily to deliver business-ready data sets for end users to utilize for reporting and analytics.
  • Work collaboratively within IT and across global teams, ensuring timely delivery of projects and enhancements while adhering to budgets.
  • Gather and analyze requirements, documenting acceptance criteria for product features and translating business problems into clear, actionable tasks.
  • Independently design and deliver analytics and reporting solutions from a business user perspective, coordinating closely with development teams to implement initiatives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to document processes and identify improvement opportunities, actively providing suggestions for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and execute test plans while coordinating testing and implementation efforts with business users to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Participate in data governance initiatives by contributing to the maintenance of business glossaries, data transformation rules, and data categorization practices.
  • Identify data quality issues and take ownership of implementing exception reporting to address gaps.
  • Maintain and share updated documentation with the user community to ensure proper understanding and adoption of implemented solutions.
  • Act as a point of contact and trusted “Face of IT” for business partners, independently addressing challenges and articulating business needs effectively.
  • Support the design and successful implementation of analytics or reporting solutions in collaboration with business partners.
  • Manage analytical troubleshooting and work with production support teams on resolving issues for project deliverables or production systems.
  • Provide training to business users on our data and reporting/visualization tools (ThoughtSpot, Tableau, IBM Cognos Analytics, Google BigQuery, Collibra).
  • Actively contribute to adding value to business partners’ organizations by proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or related field.  MBA is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience as a business analyst, data product manager or in a similar position.
  • Professional level understanding of general business processes and functions, with capability to analyze and document proposals for data products aligned with organizational goals and reference architecture.
  • Demonstrable experience in working with data and databases required – Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery would be a significant advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in reporting/visualization tools required - ThoughtSpot, Tableau and/or IBM Cognos Analytics would be a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices and data management tools, particularly Collibra, would be a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) principles and practices, including an understanding of Agile methodologies, ceremonies, and tools. Certification would be a significant advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
