Job Title: Anaplan Application Support Engineer
Location: Hyderabad, India
Reports To: Planning Delivery Lead
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Anaplan professional to primarily lead production support, operational stability, and ongoing optimization of enterprise Anaplan planning solutions supporting Demand and Supply Planning initiatives.
This role will be responsible for ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability of Anaplan models and integrations in a global production environment. While development and enhancements will be part of the role, the primary focus will be on production support, incident management, monitoring, performance tuning, and operational governance.
The candidate must be willing to work on site 4 days a week in Hyderabad. This role operates in a global support model and requires flexibility to work in rotational shifts aligned with US and other global time zones, including critical planning windows.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Support & Operational Ownership
Provide Level 2 / Level 3 production support for enterprise Anaplan models.
Own end-to-end monitoring of: Model performance, Scheduled imports/exports, Integration processes, Workflow executions, Data synchronization jobs
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for: Model calculation issues, Data mismatches, Integration failures, User access issues, Performance degradation
Resolve incidents and service requests within defined SLAs and KPIs.
Support critical planning cycles (month-end, forecast cycles, S&OP windows) with heightened monitoring.
Manage user access, security roles, selective access, and workspace administration.
Coordinate with ERP, BI, data engineering, and integration teams to resolve cross-platform issues.
Support production deployments, change migrations, and post-release validations.
Maintain runbooks, SOPs, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting documentation.
Participate in rotational shift coverage aligned with global planning operations (as needed).
Drive problem management initiatives to eliminate recurring production defects.
Conduct impact analysis for configuration changes and emergency fixes.
Model Performance Optimization & Governance
Monitor and improve model size, sparsity, and calculation performance.
Apply DISCO and PLANS best practices to improve scalability.
Identify formula inefficiencies and structural bottlenecks.
Optimize large lists, hierarchies, and modules to reduce processing time.
Support workspace management and capacity planning.
Ensure adherence to naming conventions, documentation standards, and version control best practices.
Maintain governance over change management and model lifecycle processes.
Data Integration & Interface Support
Support and monitor integrations between Anaplan and upstream systems (ERP, CRM, BI tools).
Manage data import/export actions, processes, and scheduled automation jobs.
Troubleshoot integration failures using: Anaplan Bulk APIs, Transactional APIs, CloudWorks, Anaplan Data Orchestrator
Perform reconciliation between Anaplan and source systems (Google BigQuery, Oracle DB, SQL DB).
Work closely with data engineering teams to resolve data pipeline issues.
Ensure data governance and integrity across planning systems.
Enhancements & Model Development (Secondary Focus)
Implement minor enhancements and change requests within existing models.
Develop modules, dashboards, workflows, and calculation logic improvements.
Support new feature enablement (e.g., Workflow, Polaris).
Assist in UAT cycles and regression testing for releases.
Collaborate with architects on structural improvements.
Collaboration & Leadership
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for production issues.
Mentor junior model builders in debugging and optimization best practices.
Partner with business users to resolve planning discrepancies.
Support training sessions and enablement activities for end users.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning for support and enhancement backlog.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
Experience: 5+ years of Anaplan experience, including hands-on model building in complex supply chain environments.
Technical Skills: Proven experience in implementing Anaplan for Demand Planning or Supply Chain Planning use cases. Deep understanding of Anaplan formulas, functions, model optimization techniques, and user access controls. Should be Anaplan L3 certified/Solution architect. Master Anaplanner is highly preferred. Knowledge of Administration, Polaris, Workflow, Anaplan Data Orchestrator would be a significant advantage. Strong grasp of planning processes such as forecasting, demand shaping, and S&OP. Experience with data integration tools (e.g., MuleSoft, SnapLogic, Informatica) is a plus.
Leadership Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
Cultural Awareness: Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and highly dynamic environment and manage teams across different time zones. Must be multi-tasker and able to prioritize and deliver assignments with the highest quality under pressure with short deadline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Worked on projects using The Anaplan Way or other Agile methodologies.
Background in industries like consumer goods, retail, manufacturing, or life sciences.
Familiarity with forecasting algorithms and KPIs used in demand and supply planning and S&OP.
Experience in Polaris would be a significant advantage
Experience with other planning applications such as Blue Yonder/JDA Demand/Supply Planning is a plus
