Job Description:
The Storage Administrator / Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise storage solutions. This role focuses on managing and optimizing Dell EMC storage technologies—including ECS, PowerScale (Isilon), and EMC Cloud Storage—to ensure high availability, data integrity, performance, and scalability across the organization. The ideal candidate will also lead data protection and replication activities leveraging Zerto, ViperSRM, and other storage management tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Lead day-to-day administration and lifecycle management of Dell EMC storage arrays, including ECS, PowerScale (Isilon), and Cloud Storage platforms.
§ Configure and maintain NFS shares, quotas, snapshots, and access control lists.
§ Monitor capacity, performance, and health using ViperSRM and other enterprise monitoring tools.
§ Ensure storage systems are compliant with corporate standards, SLAs, and security policies.
§ Manage Zerto replication and Virtual Protection Groups (VPGs) for critical workloads and Data Protection & Replication.
§ Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies and replication topologies across data centers and cloud environments.
§ Validate and test DR readiness periodically to ensure business continuity.
§ Collaborate with architects and application teams to design scalable storage solutions that meet performance and resilience requirements.
§ Evaluate new storage technologies and recommend upgrades or improvements to existing infrastructure.
§ Automate storage provisioning, reporting, and operational tasks using scripts or management APIs.
§ Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting and identify and resolve storage bottlenecks, NFS latency issues, and replication failures.
§ Proactively analyze capacity trends and plan for future expansion.
§ Coordinate with vendors (Dell EMC, Zerto) for advanced troubleshooting and support cases.
§ Serve as the technical lead for the storage team, mentoring junior administrators and ensuring consistent operational excellence.
§ Work closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, and Backup teams to align storage strategies with organizational goals.
§ Maintain detailed documentation, SOPs, and architectural diagrams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
§ Experience: 8+ years in enterprise storage administration, with 3+ years in a lead or senior capacity.
§ Dell EMC ECS, PowerScale (Isilon), and Cloud Storage.
§ NFS, SMB, Replication, Snapshots, Quotas.
§ ViperSRM for storage monitoring and reporting.
§ Zerto replication and VPG management.
§ Familiarity with SAN/NAS technologies and data migration best practices.
§ Knowledge of automation (Python, PowerShell, or Ansible) preferred.
Preferred Certifications:
§ Dell EMC Technical Certifications (e.g., EMCSA, EMCTA, or PowerScale Specialist).
§ Experience integrating on-premises storage with public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
§ Understanding of data protection, compliance, and retention policies.
§ Strong communication and documentation skills.
