The Opportunity: 

The Maintenance Supervisor is the driving force behind a high-performing maintenance team, leading daily operations with energy, precision, and purpose. This role oversees and coordinates maintenance activities, delegates responsibilities, and ensures workflows run smoothly to support business demands. By combining hands-on leadership with strategic oversight, the Maintenance Supervisor helps create a safe, efficient, and reliable work environment where both people and equipment perform at their best.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Lead, motivate, and direct Maintenance team members to achieve operational excellence and meet daily business objectives.
  • Coordinate, assign, and monitor maintenance tasks while auditing completed work to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with Mattel policies and procedures.
  • Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all company safety and security standards are consistently followed throughout the facility and works closely with the EH&S team.
  • Provide guidance on the proper care, handling, and preservation of maintenance tools, supplies, and equipment to maximize performance and longevity.
  • Facilitate engaging training and coaching sessions that empower employees to improve productivity, accuracy, equipment operation, and workplace safety.
  • Serve as a key communication link between the Maintenance department and leadership by providing regular updates on work order progress, departmental performance, and operational priorities.
  • Proactively identify and communicate maintenance issues, operational risks, or team concerns to management while helping drive effective solutions.
  • Inspire continuous improvement by encouraging teamwork, accountability, and innovative problem-solving within the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position supervises employees and has the authority to administer disciplinary action. Responsibilities include training staff, planning and assigning work, and overseeing daily operations. In matters involving employee complaints, disputes, performance concerns, or behavioral issues, the People and Culture Business Partner must be consulted prior to taking any corrective action.


What We’re Looking For: 

 

  • High school diploma required, along with 4+ years of supervisory experience in maintenance, construction-related projects, or project management.
  • Hands-on experience across multiple skilled trades, including electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, forklift maintenance, and mechanical repair.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance software and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Strong understanding of project planning, large-scale maintenance operations, budgeting, and financial management.
  • Proven ability to train and develop maintenance staff in technical areas while building team capability and bench strength.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and guide employees in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to respond on-call to system breakdowns, facility incidents, or emergencies as needed.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently while effectively delegating responsibilities when appropriate.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through skills.
  • Adaptable and resilient when managing shifting priorities and fluctuating workloads.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes that enhance processes, operational efficiency, and customer service.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must possess a current California Driver’s License.
  • Must maintain a current forklift certification.
  • Welding certification is required.
